d70, d80 axel swap?

I am looking to swap my d70 axel for my buddies d80. He has a '99 ex cab long bed just like mine, what would i have to do to mine to make it work? Can the 5 speed handle the 70 with no problem just driving it around? He doesnt do any heavy towing. I understand that my drive shaft will have to be shortened, or can we just swap thoes too? Any feedback would be helpful.

Just swap drive shafts. Make sure you have the same gears.
