Anyone Running A Detroit Locker In Their D80 For Street Use Or Pulling. I Have A Customer That Exploded The Stock Differential And Wants To Upgrade. How Do The Lockers Work On The Street And Do They Hold Up Sled Pulling? The Truck Is A 550hp D.d. That Hooks 20-30 Times Year.

Thanks Pt

I drive mine on the street. Just gotta take it easy in turns. Haven't had a problem with it yet.

I wouldn't use a Detroit locker, because if you break an axle shaft the rebound will destroy the Locker. The Detroit Tru-trac or the ARB are your best choices that will last.

Agreed, don't put the detroit in unless you put in good axles.

I run welded on the street, and have run Detroit's in numerous apps on the street. Some people get tired of the clicking and grabbing, really quick. I got more annoyed with the inconsistency of it on the street, especially the rain, some times it would hop and slide you around corners sometimes it would just click and release. Welded is a lot more consistent. Both are HARD on tires. I am lucky to get 30,000Km's out of a set of BFG AT's with it welded vs 60,000Km's open.

If he has the money get him into an electric locker, or an ARB.

Very true statement, but if he dosnt mind the other things about it and puts big axle shafts in it, they are very strong and reliable, i run one in my d60 on the 3.0 truck.
