Good friend of mine has a 2002 2wd dually with a auto. He isn't look into making a hot rod, just something that will help pulling the trailer and a little more power around town.

He has already beefed up the trans with a converter and valve body upgrade and put the lift pump back by the fuel tank with a big line kit.

He just got a ATS exhaust manifold and is looking at some injectors, a turbo upgrade and a programmer. We are thinking something like the HX35/40 setup, some ~70hp or so injectors and a programmer, something like a Smarty.

Any comments or advice?

Thanks,
Tobin

I like the Edge Juice w/ attitude. It gives you on the fly tuning and gauges. Where the Smarty doesn't. I also LOVE twins for towing, a good old fashioned HT3B under the HX35 is a proven and affordable set-up. Some quality injectors built for the purpose by a competent builder is the only way to go.

Depending on how much power he wants and how big of a trailer, maybe something like the smarty, some 70-90hp injectors and a nice little s300 over an s400 twin set up.

Lower end of price range, maybe an edge box, some rv275's and an s300(gives room to go to twins, thrown an HT3B under it eventually.)
How much is he looking to spend?

Not sure on his budget, more of a buy stuff as he gets good deals on it.

The trailer is a ~28' enclosed with his race car in it.

I am liking the compound setup idea. He has a HY35 on there now, so that will have to go.

Injector recommendations? Doesn't want anything that will get hot or have to worry about towing.

Tell him to go with the edge juice w/attitude, the rv275's, and an hx35 over HT3B. That will be the cheapest option and safest. Those 275's work really well with the edge boxes and they don't get real hot while towing.

Edge Juice w/A. He'll like the shift on the fly. I tow on level 2 and most other times just leave it there. Watch this forum, I see them for sale from time to time.

The best thing I ever did for "towing" with my single was to put in a Hamilton cam. Night and day difference spooling a single 62 with #30K gross. Price twins vs. single and a cam. Of course I'd do twins if money wasn't an object, but, it is, so I have this. :D
