Any pullers use them? I have one to unload, but I have no idea if there is any demand in the pulling world.

Not really...IIRC the axle shalfs are smaller then the 37 spline d-80's... But the ring gear is bigger, so it could be built!?!?!?

I dont know ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?:hehe:

Ive never seen one in a puller. The thing is, when you switch to anything bigger than a Dana80, then that puts you up there with the 3.0 unlimited singles, and modified/open trucks. Anyone pulling in those classes will use a Rockwell since its proven to be up to the task.

could be a budget 3.0 rear i thouight about it if i went 3.0 and didnt add a drop box

Yeah your wright, thats the problem with the rules in the diesel classes, the trucks are making so much TQ and HP that a 1 ton drive line is tooo weak! So then ya have to spend a lot of $$$ to make the 1 ton stuff hold up. It would be much cheaped to get a junk yard rockwell and be done...

I agree. Its getting tougher and tougher for the 2.8/3.0 guys to get their drivelines to hold, even with the best parts available. The transmissions are starting to fail too. I have a friend that scattered his motor last year when he broke 2nd gear in his NV4500.

Lockers were on sale for those last week @ Randys Ring & Pinion. Not anymore, but something to keep an eye on.

Well poop... Anybody have any ideas as to where I may be able to unload this thing? who would need one besides someone with a 550 or someone wanting to have 550 running gear?

Here are some specs that I found for a Dana135...
Axle Shaft Diameter (Minimum) - 1.375
Axle Shaft Diameter Over Splines - 1.5
Number of Splines - 32
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/e550BB02.pdf

And according to some other info I found, the axle shafts on a Dana80 are 1.5inches throughout, and I know the splines are 35. Looks like the Dana135 wouldnt be much of an upgrade?

These specs don't coincide with what I found this morning. According to Eatons application page Dana 135s have 1.84 diameter axles and 36 splines. That axle you have would be of value to a puller as far as an upgrade. The only problem is that its a lot of work to fit it under there and then you would have to figure out how to put 19.5 tires w/traction on it or fit 16" tires on it.
