Why the info for a Dana 61? The front is a Dana 60 and the rear is a Dana 70 for diesels, IIRC. The gasser 250's used a Dana 60 rear. I thought Ford was the only one to use a 61 and I thought they used that in their vans.

cause all of the 727 automatic first generation 4x4 dodges got dana 61's cause of the 3.08 gears.....

Thats some good info, thanks! Do they happen to have a spool or open carrier for the 61 to run a standard gear?

not that i can find, but any dana 60 spool will work i believe if they got the right spline.....

Fuel mileage being a factor, Dodge needed the ability to have a higher gear option than 3.54's which was offered in the 60's. They were looking at a 3.07 to be better fuel wise and the 60 could not accommodate the 3.07's. Dana made the 61 for that purpose.
