I need a dana 80 for the puller. And i came across a 94 2500 Cummins 5 speed with a 80 in it are they a regular 80 or a hybrid?

If the truck you found was a 2500 its not a regular dana 80.. unless somebody put one in it.

ok so every truck that had a 5 speed weather it is a 2500 or 3500 has the same dana 80 in them

3500 is 3" wider and has bigger brakes. That's 1.5" per side, which was hard to notice when I swaped one into my 2500

The Dana 80's in the 2500 5 speed's were actually a hybird which is a 80 centersection and tubes with the Dana 70 hubs and brake hardware. The true 80's were the dually and cab n chassis versions.

ok thanks guys i found some info too, what i found was that most say that it has smaller hubs and brakes. So, my question will it be strong enough for me.

Tony R are you saying a srw 3500 dana 80 and this 2500 dana 80 are the same? because if thats true their is alot of people running these hybirds. Are the axles the same material, spine count ?

I think I have an 80 in my SRW truck. It had the towing package with 4.10's and 3" leafs in back.

I have a parts truck at my house that is 97 srw and it has 3500 on the elbems and it had a dana 80.
So are these axles the same?

It didnt come from Dodge that way, someone changed the badges or converted to a SRW

Edit: if thats the truck you bought from ricky, it was a dually and had the bed removed

That makes sense it was that truck. But geno's garage and another website shows that dodge did put a 80 in 94-02 in 5speed 2500 it is a dana 80 from what the pics look like

isnt a true 80 37 spline like the fords and all 80's in the dodges are 35 spline to my knowledge. dodge 80s are of the hybrid kind

Correct the ford 80's use the 37 spline axles. The 80 in the 2500 5 speeds and the cab n chassis 80's have the same length axles in them.

So is a ford 80 stronger than a Dodge due to the larger axles? But I guess the pinion is still the weak point.

ford f450's and gm 3500hd from the mid 90's, along with many motorhomes had full dana 80's the axle shafts, wheel bearings and brakes are all bigger. Most of them had 19.5 tires and wheels except for the real early f450 fords from the early 90's... most of them were also 10 lug. with rear disc's...
