My Paw-in-Law has a 1998.5 24v with a 6spd. It has an Edge Ez and the wastegate blocked off. He has been having a reoccurring problem with his truck. So, he asked me to give him a hand with it the other day. He said it had been down on power and hesitating? Immediately I thought it must be a fuel related issue. But, he has a fuel pressure gauge that never really dips below 12lbs and usually sits at 15lbs at idle and under light load. He has also told me that he has had to put several MAP sensors in it in the recent past? So, I pulled the Edge connection off and it is slap loaded with corrosion(it has failed without the corrosion in the past)! So I cleaned it with contact cleaner and put a bit of dielectric grease on the connection and replugged it without the Edge box and cleared the codes. I drove it to work the next day and it seemed to run great for about an hour. Then the pedal went dead and it would not build any boost again(10lb or less)??? I am assuming that both of these issues are probably somehow related? I no the MAP sensor is like $100 and the TPS I got quoted like $360. Is there any chance that this could somehow be a PCM related issue? He just doesn't have the $ to throw at parts we don't need. Also, I have heard that you can somehow "clock" the TPS to fool it?
Thanks for reading ANY and ALL help with this is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Does the tach go dead with the dead pedal? Does it happen intermittently?

if the tach never changes its the tps/apps sensor if the tack drops its the cam sensor down behind the starter. if you let of the gas and re-apply your foot 3 times and it comes back to life its deff the apps
