Dead Peddle

Howdy folks,
I've got a question for all you 24valve folks. A buddy of mine has an 01 Cummins Automatic. Tonight he experienced what I think what everybody is calling dead peddle. He could shove the throttle to the floor and get nothing. in park or drive. Shut it off and started it back up and he still had nothing. The truck has an Edge chip in it, I dunno if it's an EZ or a Comp. It also has a custom tune done by Chris Ogle. He took the edge chip off and the truck acted fine. Put it back on and it was fine for a while and then acted up again. So right now the truck is running without the chip just fine. Have any of you with edge chips had this problem? And here's a stupid question but how do you check for codes?

Thanks,
Willy

Cycle the key off and on three times for major codes, it won't display ALL the codes, just the biggies.

Have your buddy reset the APPS and see if it helps any.

Remove all battery cables, with cables off touch the driver's side pos and neg together for about 30 seconds, this will drain all capacitors in the system and clean out the flash memory. Reconnect battery cables, get in the truck and turn the key on, let all the warning lights go off and SLOWLY depress the skinny pedal to the floor and SLOWLY release it. Sometimes this can help.

Bad ground on the edge comp will do that. Try grounding to the neg. battery terminal. If that doesnt help, it could be a bad MAP sensor

check the codes, try the APPS reset but im gonna place my bet on you having a bad VP44 on the truck.

Why is it that when I read about problems in the 2nd gen dodge forum that most all of them have an Edge product on them.:bang

INCLUDING ME!!!! :bang

help me does any one have a real solution to this i have an 01 with a comp on it and i got so mad at my truck last night i drove around with the comp on all night with the comp on level 5 and it wold kick on around 2200 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear should i try the batteries trick and check the ground on the box also i keeps throwing tease codes p1693 and p0460

If it was the cam sesonr the tach would jump all around if its not doing that u can rull out the cam sensor! Try the key trick, or find somebody with a scanner! But im going to say its something to do with the edge!

mine did it with the edge on or off it was the cables installed new ones let you know if it does it again
