for strictly pulling what is better a machined factory piston that is ceramic coated on top and teflon coated sides and bottm or aftermarket pistons? going in a 2001 compression ration in the area of 13:1 Rob

Id just cut your factory ones. I did and they were just fine. Heck with that coating. When you say strictly pulling truck. You talking 2.6, 2.8... What makes it strictly a puller? Strictly puller to me means you can drive it on the road cause its not capable.

going to be made into a 3.0 puller/2.8 puller. and not streetable now with 6x.018 injectors in it so it was parked a a new truck was bought

Ceramic coat and teflon is a waste been there done that. Top fuel coat or leave them alone. I do like my Ross pistons. Had it hot enough to crack the head in 2 spots with the head and valves ceramic coated and pistons with top fuel coat looked like new yet. But if had to do it over it would be stock pistons fly cut but I don't know if I could have got them 30 over.

Still sounds streetable to me. I drive 8x16's and a 2.8 charger.

But Im going with decked and fly cut stockers, for the price difference they are worth a shot. Maybe down the road Ill got to a brand name piston. But there isnt much need for that fancy of a piston on a 2.6 puller.......

i'd go with a set of ross pistons. they'll do whatever you want and they'll take everything you can throw at them

I have Haisley Fly cut and tapered stockers... They Bring my ratio down to like 15:1... It don't like the cold but, I did drive the truck regularly with 5x.018's and a phatshaft 71...... good for about 4-8 mpg LOL

Thats the route im going if/when i have to rebulid. stockers and have them cut and top fuel coat them.

Cummins doesnt make a .030 over pistion or at least not that i have found they have a .020 and a .040. wich i think is really dumb but what ever.
