Having some issues with the Smarty/MP-8 combo and wanted to see if anyone else has had the problem and possible solutions. THIS IS NOT A SMARTY BASHING SESSION!!!

Running an ED 4XX something turbo and Flux 4.3s, motor is a new build, decompressed, etc. At the track its next to impossible to build boost at the line without a little shot, and today on the dyno it was defueling until I could get the rpms way up, (RP was at 15k or less until it decided to come on.) Now, it doesn't defuel everytime for some reason and its VERY noticeable when it doesn't. I am running a boost fooler and MP8 along with the Smarty. I have tried many different settings with the shift limit off and on. I thought at first it might be the wastegate opening too soon but I took care of that with double springs, and drive pressures are very much in line with where they need to be (1 to 1, or less). I am not overfueling turbo, watched a video from the other night and its noticeable when it defuels at the line.

On my old setup with twins and Flux 2.8s there was NO defuel at all. Have emailed the group at Mads and hopefully will hear something back from them soon, but wanted to check and see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm scratching my head on this one, but I'm sure there is something simple I have failed to do. Any help is appreciated:bang

Have you tried taking the boost fooler off and just run the mp-8.

I run a A5K,75% injectors, dual fuelers, smarty tnt-r and just recently took the boost fooler off and running the mp-8.I do not experience any defuel issues at all.

What rpm is it defueling?

I have checked all my connections multiple times, but haven't tried taking off the boost fooler. Will give it a try this evening.

RPM 1900-2100, max boost about 10-12 psi, then it hits a wall and won't go any higher until I start rolling.

Bob told me the shift limiter is for the 03- 04 trucks but, I know if I don't turn it on, mine will defuel when trying to spool at the line. As long as it's on... you shouldn't have a problem there.

You shouldn't need the quad because the MP-8 will do the fooling for you.

It may have everything to do with which setting you're using. As you likely know, the higher the setting doesn't mean the better the performance will be. I rarely run the Smarty above #1 on the RP setting or above #2 on timing

My guess is, you " are " overfueling which will play hell on getting the turbo to light. Are you getting any codes ?

I could be wrong but you may have your boost fooler in the wrong place in line. It should be fooler first and then everything else. I had smilier prob and this simple over look was my fix.Hope this helps.

Bob.

Do you have a boost fooler stacked with the mp-8? Doesn't the mp-8 boostfool?

Triton you may be right. I don't run on any setting higher than lvl5, rp 2, timing on 4(N2O). Take a look at the attached video clip where I am staging up. When the smoke clears up I have 10 lbs of boost and it will not go higher. It looked and felt like defuel there. I have tried all the levels of trq mgt and all respond about the same.

I will take the boost fooler off and try it tonight and see what kind of results I get. Maybe thats the trick.

Thanks to all for the replies.

IHMO, you're over fueling it. You're dumping heavy smoke while spooling and once you take off. My truck did the same thing and it ran good times but, once I changed the setting to something I'd never tried..... I'm running faster with less smoke.

Try the RP on #1, timing on #1 ( don't use the NOS ), speed limiter turned way up, shift limiter off, TQ on #2 and run a even SW i.e,- 6, 8, MP-8 @ 100% ( get rid of the quad )

see how that works
