I have looked threw the old threads and have seen this come up a few times. I blew the spiders out of my D80 and want a locker for it. The truck still gets street driven so i cant weld the rear, i dont know how well the truetracs hold up to sled pulling but am leaning towards the locker. And they dont make a locker for 3.73 and down.
so i am left to moddifing a D70HD carrior to work in a D80 with 3.54s.
Has anyone had expeariance with doing this? Whats all involved? Just drilling the holes bigger or more then that? Diffrent bearings? And which Dana 70hd carrior? 4.10 and down i would thinks but is it the 4.56 and up?

Just wanted to get as much info before i buy parts.

Thanks
Eric

Yea just drill the holes out to 9/16 IIRC. Mine took a little creative shimming ( I had to use alot of shims on the bearings). Been working great for a few years of pulling.

You can have the 3:54's back side cut down so it will work with the 4:10 carrior. I have a set of 3:73;s on a detroit locker that is for 4:10's in my d80!
