Can anyone tell me why washing my valve covers and valve cover gaskets in my parts washer which uses straight diesel ruined my valve cover gaskets by making them all approximately 15-20% larger than they used to be? I did leave them in the washer for a few days after washing. I got by with some old gaskets I had laying around and making one of the larger gaskets work with the freezer treatment and some careful finagling. Just curious why that happened. Thanks.
