I have seen this done in some drag trucks:
I have just begun research on this. Anyone done this or read up on it?
I was wondering about engine mounts (I assune just use the ones from the 3/4 tons) as well as the weight situation, what needs to be done to the front coil springs to accommodate the heavy diesel engine (just springs with
heavier load strength)?

A buddy of mine is doing it right now and you will need ladder the frame for twisting and have mounts made. Don"t mess with trying to use some out of a junked truck. You will regret it. The springs should be the same it will just squat more. No biggie.

what about wiring issues - and rear axles?
What I am after is a 1500 appearance stuffed with diesel power...

I don't know what he is doing for wiring. He is using a Ford 9 inch for the rearend though. He is using the 1500 for the reduced weight.
