anyone know the difference in the cam profiles from a common rail vs a stock 24v cam as far as lift, etc? And are the tappets the same from a 24v and a common rail?
I can answer some of that, yes the cam is different but I don't know if its more lift as much as valve timing, the tappets are different as well, the common rail tappets are bigger. Hope this helps
The common rail uses a larger diameter tappet 1.5" vs 1.3?".
The CR profile has a tighter LSA, 98 degrees I believe. A reground CR cam in a 24 valve will spool the turbo quicker, and give more mid and little better top end. Some of the cylinder pressure is used to spool the turbo. The regrind allows for more duration and a little added lift to accomplish this.
