DMAX 6SP Pullin gear???

My buddy has a 04 6sp manuel and will be pullin this year. He has 3.73's I think. What gear would you recommend?? BFG AT 285/17.

Was thinking 4th low??? I dont know the ratios of Dmax 6sp..

Ive had good luck with 4th low@ about 500-550 rwhp, but if he dosent have a clutch i wouldent even pull it!!!

Brand new SBC DD 650HP SFI... Clutch should good.

yeah but he 800HP I would guess or close to it. Is he 3.0 or 2.8???

My buddy is stock charger. I think 4th will just about right.

3.0 unless he switched.


I also run 5th low. It takes big HP to make it work.

talked to a guy named chad at wilmintoon pull yesterday. 03 lb7/zf-6 all he had was edge/a he pulled 4H 1st gear.. stock clutch.. told him to get online and look up johnboy, evan davis and caleb 05_lly

Definitely stay out of high range unless you like buying output shafts. When I pulled with stock motor I pulled 4th low range with 373 gears and a/t 285/75/16 tires. On the output shaft at 805hp I broke the stock rearend, I think not hanging weights helped ,Tampico last year. Put scs's in, at 851hp is where the output shaft let go. Now have 410 gears and pull 5th low range and so far so good not broke anything yet.

OK Thanks guys. 4th low is what I thinking too. But Im not a chevy guy so I cant give him good advice!!! I pull 4th low with my dodge 5sp with 5.13's....
