For those of you that have purchased the roll pin kit i was wondering if you could tell me the length of the roll pins i think 40.00 is a little high for 2.00 worth of pins thanks in advance Tony

The kit has a handy jig for drillin the holes, worth it IMO, I think the pins are about 5/8" I drilled them all.
No reason why you can't measure it out, and free hand it though.....don't need to drill real deep, thickness of the dampner plate and a bit.

Here's a photo without the pins pressed in, holes drilled.

pins are basically 3/4" long drilled with a 5/16th drill bit. drill .525 deep

hope this helps.

Roll pins

The pins don't cost $40.00, that's the price of the complete drill fixture kit, which includes drill fixture, pins and drill bit. The heat treated drill fixture is a proffessional tool that can be used many times over. If you ever need additional pins contact Fluidampr and they will send out more @ no charge.

thanks guys for the info im just going to level up the mag drill on the front of the engine to drill it

Sorry for the hijack, and this is probably a stupid question. Why do you have to install roll pins?

idk they say any engine turning over 3500rpm needs them some say they chatter real bad at higher rpms

That fluid dampner has come loose on some high HP/ high Rpm engines, the stock tiny pin isn't enough, and even that pin isn't a tight fit, so really your only relying on the bolts.

You don't need the pin kit, but it is handy, just look at the photo, (drilled with jig), tighten the bolts, leave a tiny bit of space so the bold head dont touch the pin, and your golden.

The Jig makes the install super easy and faster, I have pinned mine wether I was turning over 35K or not, it's a good thing and added insurance I also use new bolts and loctite never had to touch them after the install :)

is it necessary to use a gear puller to get the damper off ?

I did to get the stocker off my original truck after it had been on for 7 years, I don't know about removing the Fluidampr haven't had to remove as of yet.

When I got mine from Lynn at Fluidampr he made sure I got the roll pin kit as well. It is the best insurance you can get

Hey BBD....Sweet cover on the Fluidampr:rockwoot:

guess I'm fixing to find out. Just though I'd ask before heading to the shop. It's only been on a bit over a year so I may get lucky

I agree about your cover... if that something you made ?

Thanks guy's, a local shop made it up for me, billet aluminum. We exspanded on the steel version that was on the truck fabricated by WPE.

I bet that guy can whip those out a drop of a hat!:hehe:

I still never pinned my Fluidamper. I've been putting it off, but maybe I should get it done. Do you need to remove the rad/intercooler to gain access to drill? I have a angle drill, will that get in there?
