Does anyone know when they started making billet cams?

I have a dilema here. I have an 06 cummins, I probably bought the helix h2 cam and valve springs in july 06 for around $1,500 if I recall. Did they start with billets cams and then found out they could use regrinds or do I just have a very high priced regrind?

They were a cast billet. F1 doesn't do regrinds as far as I know.
