I've been busy for the past month or so with work and haven't had much time to work on the truck other than wash it and go pull, so I still haven't finished my air shut-off yet, and most of my local pulls don't care about them too much.

Well Saturday night it bit me...2 classes (stock and pro-stock) and everyone knows I pull in the bigger of the two classes around here so I set up for that class. Hung weights, blocked the rear and had it perfect, 10lbs under weight, and hitch right at 26.

The guy says can't pull pro-stock without an air shutoff, but I can pull the weight and stops in the rear and run stock class. Same motor, same power, no suspension stops and weight in the bed. Back to the trailer I go to sling weights etc in 96* temps, re-tech, pulling stock class (which has some guys pissed off now) and then in the drivers meeting they say top 5 in the class can bump up to the next class. I placed 3rd and coulda put the stops/weight back on and pulled the big class anyway.

kinda stupid if you ask me. best part was they weren't even hooking the cable on the sled to the shut-offs...they were expecting it to be a driver operated shut off.

Maybe they thought if you had the big power you would break without stops and such in the smaller class. Kind of like you cant overpower your setup in the stock class.

The time you spend making a fake one could probably finish your real one. If your gonna cheat on rules, cheat on ones that make you go farther!

Like buying extra stiff rear spring packs so there is no need for blocks?

then putting blocks under the springs :hehe:

sorry if I sound stupid but I don't get it...

im talking about blocks as in stops from the frame to the axle. not the blocks under the springs.

if you cant use "stops/block" stiffer spring pack and lift blocks under the spring ........ to keep the truck level or ina forwar rake..

sorry if i was clear......

oh ok gotcha now...thats the plan. I have a set of springs for the truck that are stiffer and will lift the truck waiting for me, just gotta get some sidework to make some extra money right now.. they are designed for pulling tho and came off a pulling truck from ohio or somewhere out that way.

i'd rather have 2" lift springs that are stiff in the rear then to weld the shocks because i could still drive it even tho the ride will be stiff, and almost all rules even state there must be 1 WORKING shock absorber per tire.

What are they going to do jump up and down on the bumper or pull down on the bed sides???

no but its quite obvious when you see a truck blocked solid hopping its ass end all over the pits.

and welding the shocks is clearly breaking the rules as it states it must be working. there are no rules that say you must use stock spring rates tho.
