Well I went to go install my hidden hitch and I couldn't because the hitch did not have notch cut out for this bolt and bracket. I called the people that made my hitch that fits behind my new roll pan and they didn't know anything about this bracket. Can I remove the bolt and grind the weld off or should I notch out my hitch?

Can somebody go look under their truck and see if they have a brace like that under your truck?

hmmm interesting just went out and checked and my 99 has that bracket but my 98 doesnt if it was me i would just notch the hitch looks alot easier to me hope this helps

Anybody else have any input on what I should do? I think it maybe easiter to just unbolt it and grid that weld off. It only has one weld across the bottom that's not more than 1 1/2" long.

I would imagine its there for a reason. Im sure it helps support something. Think I would be little concerned with cutting stuff off the truck?$.02

If it was me I would take it off and not notch the hitch. If they changed between 98 and 99 with that bracket then it was for a reason but apparently it was not life or death since there was not a recall on them as far as I know. Your hitch is designed to bolt in without that extra bracket. Just my $.02
