Even more simple fix.
Just inset the key into the ignition
Turn to run position
Using a thin screwdriver/rod/pen inset etc... to reach in the access hole in bottom of column cover, depress the detent in the ingition cylinder.
Pull the cylinder out
Then remove the "key in" tab from the cylinder.
Replace the the cylinder into column.
All done, no more ding.
Takes less than a minute once you've done it a few times.
