double disk clutch

what made you get rid of it, i havnt ran any other clutches in my truck but it just dont seem to street friendly

I don't personally have one in mine, but I've driven 2 other trucks that have them. Definitely doesn't have the manners of my SBC, but it wasn't all that horrible to drive either. I drove my boss' truck with the EEP clutch most recently this past Saturday and it sqeaks really loud every time you engage it. Other than that and a very stiff pedal (compared to my clutch) it wasn't too bad.

I drove one and compared to my SBC its not near as friendly. Are you sure the squeak isnt the throw out?

my 99 i daily drove for 2 years with a eep dual disk. you guys are definitly right on not being the most street friendly. mine makes a chatter or squek when taking off. i was told to "burn it a little" so the only time i sled pulled the truck i slipped it out taking off, it helped for a while.

i had some issues with the adjustment on mine, and it ended up screwing up the center plate and the insides of the puck faces.

ill agree, they arent street friendly, but dadgum, when that thing engaged, it was on! the SB im running now is way more street friendly..

i have run the clutches for about 2 years on a dailyddriver 1ton that is pulling trailors almost all the time never had a issue, have one on my play truck many hooks, 1/4 mile passes, and street time and never had a issue

I have one that I ran for years in my 98.It was installed back in 2000 and was just removed when one of the Borg & Beck levers failed finally after over 100k of street abuse. The floater was in pristine shape and the clutch disc's are in great shape but the pressure plate failed. It will be rebuilt and put back in once its done after the holidays.

I bought mine becuase of how Sled Puller used to abuse his old EEP unit.he broke everything else in the driveline back then but that EEP double lived until the big SBC went in.I figured if he can not break it pulling then I would have it last a long time and do everything I wanted as I don't pull.I was VERY happy with the service I recieved from their unit thus the reason it will go back in again.

You are correct, its not the most street friendly clutch available but when you want or need to drop the hammer you have no worries as it will handle the abuse. If street friendly is what you want then you need a SBC or a Haisley Machine Street/Drag.I have a Haisley Street/Drag in mine now and can honestly say it about the only double disc I have ever driven that feels like a single disc when you need to push the pedal in but when you want hook, you got hook.It really is a very nice clutch unit and probably one of the most overlooked doubles out there.........Andy

P.S.-I really mis the big rattle of the EEP Double as the Haisley is silent when engaged.

your right about the rattle, wish i had a $1 for every time somebody asked me what was wrong with my throwout bearing.

I doubt that you will find very many people that will contest the durability and overall toughness of this clutch.

The pedal in my SBC with stock 324k mile hydraulics is as light, if not lighter than the stock clutch pedal. My clutch rattles with the clutch disengaged, but I forgot how much rattle the EEP clutch has until I got back in my boss' truck this weekend. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda like it. :rockwoot:

I'm on my second one... The first one lasted about 90K miles and I DD it about 20K a year. That included towing my skidsteer during the week and about 10-15 hooks and alot of hotrodding, lol. When I replaced it, the friction discs were still in decent shape but the pressure plate was in need of replacing. I did have problems with cracking the floater plates, but that problem should be fixed now with the thicker one they use now. In my opion its a great clutch.

ive had several people walk by my truck and just stare at it when i have the clutch engaged, or ask me what the hell is wrong with it. I cant say ive had any troubles with it yet, it has been rebuilt before, the floater plates were cracked in it, but it was taken out of a strictly pulling truck, i was told if the chatter in the plates stopped making noise, then the clutch was bad/going out, is that true information. I have had trouble getting into gears before, especially in the winter time when the transmission fluid gets real thick, is this normal as well, or has anyone experienced anything like this?

stupid question but where can one get an EEP clutch? ive tried searching and cant find any links or anything.

Thats very true, on mine, both times the plate was cracked it stopped rattling. Thats a sure sign its cracked... compared to this one, how badly was yours cracked?

im not real sure about how bad it was, i bought it off of a guy who ended up swapping my automatic out for a 5 speed for me, he had it on one of his pulling trucks and he had told me he was gonna have it rebuilt and put it on my truck, that was almost three years ago, i know it was cracked but as far as compared to yours, im clueless.
