If I purchase my new 09' it will immediatly recieve a SBC DD. My question is how long can an engines thrust bearing take the DD........

Mine broke out of the 95 after about 140-160K miles with a 3250 SB Double...about 350K total miles when I rolled new bearing in it!

Dual disc can't be any worse than a single disc with the same clamp load. Whats the plate load on an FE clutch?

Seems like Grumpy Jenkins made a reference to this in his book many years ago.
Getting off the clutch pedal as soon as the engine starts then not pushing it back in until the oil pressure was up was his recommend.
I put mine in neutral for redlights and anything else that would require the pedal to be pushed in for longer than 20 or 30 seconds although it might wear the 2nd gear syncros a little more.

Its not a cummins but ive had a DD on my duramax for over 100,000 miles with no issue.
