did my deletes today at 2800mi so i figured if i got rid of the egr cooler and valve and just put a delete pipe in so i would not have heavey drone from a full system all would be good. well the shop i bought the parts from said without a full system i would plug up the cat in the downpipe with soot from added fueling? WTF? whats your opinions, im not so sure really and im not new to this diesel thing. seems as though alot of people running like this.sooooo?:umno:

You need to get rid of every restriction you can. Don't spend extra money on a kit with a muffler, all the mufflers sound terrible apart from the Aero Turbine. I'm told the 4" exhaust creates less drone, but my 5" with the Aero Turbine is not excessively loud at all

He's right! I've gutted quite a few that were plugged. I've not done a new Dodge though, where is the cat located, it's not in the DP, is it?

yep its in the d/p. well i guess ill change it also, just never heard such a thing. sure are alot of guys going to get a suprise when it plugs.

ill just build myself a d/p with a flange so i can bolt this crap back up when i need to do emissions testing.

it will not get plugged. whoever sold you the parts is a moron IMO

I know for a fact that a cat won't live long with added fueling, maybe because they were further downstream than the DP. If you know something we don't, please throw it out. I would hate to steer a new guy in the wrong direction.

well i think he may just be trying to look out for me. hes been doing this a long time soooooo, helped me alot with my 04.5 and i've never had an issue and really still don't. if he believes this ,it is better to say it rather than have me come back yelping and crying when and if it happens.

I've deleted and gutted a bunch of cats, new low mile trucks and you can't even see straight through them. I've gutted some that were 30K mile units that were plugged up almost completely with minor performance enhancements. That's why I was wondering if maybe being in the DP it stayed hotter than the downstream cats that were plugging up?

it's been done many many times for many many miles

certainly won't hurt to remove it, but honestly won't hurt to leave it

thats knd of what i thought but like i said im new to these pollution trucks and i know plenty of guys that have done just the delete pipe.

Like I said, I've not messed with a '12, maybe it's a less restrictive cat than the units used prior. Try it I guess, because it doesn't look like the one's in the know are going to elaborate as to why they won't plug up like the older much larger ones will!

Alternatively you could move somewhere emissions testing is not required :lolly:

I just put a delete pipe on an 08 that had 1/8" of soot caked on the inside diameter of the all of the piping pre DPF. The truck was showing DPF 100% see dealer now. Put a delete pipe on it and the truck runs great.

Just saying

Added fuel? Or stock? I'm not hackin on ya, I'm really trying to figure why they're not pluggin like some others.

usually don't put more than a 100hp tune on trucks with the downpipe cat in tact. I've never seen/heard a problem with one and know hot-shotters with over 100k on delete tunes w/ the cat in place

also know TONS of pre-dpf trucks running around with tunes on them and the factory cats intact

not saying it can't happen, just saying I've never seen it. YMMV

Why waste money on delete pipe? Just send the extra $100 and get a full 4" exhaust.
