Dump valves

A 3-Way Dump valve, mine is -8. There are some on ebay every now and then for the budget minded puller.

I don't see why that couldn't work.....a 3-way dump valve is only what is "recommended." I am using a standard 2-way ball valve to block fuel flow to the pump in the event of a problem. $.02

Ball valve closes of fuel supply and returns to the tank via the regulator:

I use a 3-way ball valve on the 3.0 truck. I use a push pull cable to use it. The ones that BBD posted are very nice, if i ever need another one i will buy one of those. But the ball valves work fine and are fairly cheap.

I think you could just put a t in the return line to your tank.

Why do I need the T, my fass has a regulator on it, when I close the valve, the fuel will go back to tank. I think the 3 way dump should be used on systems that aren't regulated before the dump valve. If not you have to worry about dead heading the pump, and pressures could just climb to the point you might have a fuel line rupture.

I guess im confused, i was thinking put a t in the return line to the tank from the valve.

Why the need for a 3 way? Wouldnt a 2 way be just fine? Its just used to block off fuel to the pump, correct?

I think the reason is so you don't dead head the transfer pump, the fuel still has a place to go.(to the tank) That is my thinking anyway.

I use a two way in the line from the regulator to the IP.

This forces the fuel to use the bypass back to the tank , which wont hurt the electric fuel pump the way a two way would in the feed line

I cant see any reason to use a three way valve on a cummins setup
