dumps boost??

I have a friend with a 92 cummins with a stick, as you drive and push it the turbo will hit about 15lbs of boost and then flutter real bad and you have to let off it, he has 60hp injectors and a fuel pin in the pump we tried another turbo with the same results any thoughts 1st gen gurus??

Check all the intercooler boots.

Also the IC itself.

does anybody know what the lift pump pressure should be I think it may be a fuelling issue? causing the turbo to flutter and fall off the high end.

It SHOULD be 9psi with a NEW diaphram lift pump. The IP like 15psi...

You can get a low pressure piston pump and everything to make it work for around $200 from Cummins.

Or get something that pushes a lot of fuel and regulate it. I am going this route. I have a Walbro 392 and gonna get a Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. Airdog and Fass are good bets too.

On the turbo issue, probably not your problem.

i do aggree on the fueling i had the IP turned up to much and it would starve at high R's it felt just like an I/C boot popping off

did you try another non-MWE compressor turbo?

sounds like compressor surge to me
