I recently ran my truck on a DynoCom Dyno. It is a load dyno. I would have rather had run on Dunbars but I just happen to have this chance. Acutally, I hoping to get to the track soon for a new time / trap speed for a more accurate picture of power.

Anyone know much about these dyno's....Most were saying it was being rather stengy with the numbers. And that most load dyno's like this read apporx 25-50 hp lower than a Dynojet...

Thoughts??

I think it depends on what software they are using, Terry's early software would give hi #'s, he got new software in March 2008 and the numbers seemed more in line with other dyno's. alot of people lost 100-150hp with the newer software. were your numbers really low?

Well, I don't really know...Totally different build this time, yet many of the same mods.

My old build / tuning put down 766 on Dunbars (without much tunning at all). I changed a few things and then ran my 11.47@117.88...Which calculated right at 800 +/- at 7300 lbs.

This new build has slightly higher compression, a Tad bit bigger stix (from 3.3's to 3.8's), coated piston's w/ teflon skirts, balanced bottom end, But with a bit heavier VP rods that were lightened, Polished, balanced, and radiused. All else is the same.

I'm just wondering about the dyno #'s itself....I guess I won't really know until I make a pass or two.

It put down 753 / 1292 on a low timing program with pressure added. I'm sure I'll gain some top end with more timing....I've also been concerned about my ecm and if it has problems cause I still got the Rattle.....I'd also like to try a TST to add a bit more duration and see if that'll peak out my top end charge.

Forget the dyno #'s the track will tell the truth! :rockwoot: J/K

Higher timing will make alot of hp difference, nothing a bit of tweakin cant fix! With only 2k on your new build i would say it still needs some break in time for a "true" apples to apples comparison. David, with your luck, Just be thankfull you havent spit rods out yet....:hehe:

No Chit!! I should just be glad it rolls up hill under it's own power!!!

lol

I agree about their dyno. Mine did 430@820 and my buddies did 450 and he has dynoed 540 twice on Dunbars. I think theirs was a little of that weekend but hey, just leaves you wanting more on Dunbars!

Well , i guess I answered my question last night!

Not saying anything bad about the dyno but the numbers are right at 100 hp different from my new numbers on the HP calculator.

Using a very accurate 7300 lbs. Weighed lasted night and my two trap speeds of 120.2 & 120.6 I am calculating 850+

I also tried it with the weight and E.T. Too. Still 850+

I'm sure its really somewhere in between but it's funny how different they are.

Thoughts???

are you running it at TS david? if so, let me know so i can bring full body protection against flying engine parts!

think im gonna run the megacab dually lol hopefully bigger charger and full trans rebuild beforehand.

LOL I got vest you can wear!

Im hoping too! I will be there either way though.

Check out my thread on the new times in the Drag Race section.

I believe this is the type dyno that will be in smyrna,tn next weekend. Wanted to go for comparison but I have other obligations.
