I had to get a new ECM and PCM. My question is I have smarty download in it. Can I just take the truck back to stock, pull the smarty out. Then put new ECM in, and reload it once the new ones in and be fine? And how do I unlock the smarty. Never had to do it before. Thanks
 
You got it. Reprogram the old ECM back to stock, swap, and program the new ECM.
 
I should have added that returning the pickup back to stock unlocks the Smarty.
 
So does the pcm have to have a matching vin with the truck? I'm needing a pcm and was told if I just got one from the junkyard it wouldn't work right. Sorry to high jack the thread
 
Not a problem. Were all here to help each other. Ok so returning truck back to stock unlocks it.? That I wasn't sure. No I had to order the PCM. So it will be here Thursday.
 
I'm not sure. I ended up getting a new reman PCM. Put it in today. Now the truck doesn't even shift at all. When you take off it feels like it's in second gear or something, takes off slow. And won't shift.But I was also wondering do I have to get this ew PCM programmed to the truck?
