ECM problem!!

My truck is having a ecm problem and I just cant bring myself to break down and order a new one. I have found a few used ones but how do I know if they will fit or not?? I have a 98.5 24 valve. Will other 98s bolt right up and work or will I have to have the ecm flashed with the vin to fit my truck no matter what I buy??? Also what year range will these ecms fit my truck??? Any help is appreciated guys. thanks. Also if you know where I can get a good deal on one then by all means send me a link or pass the word on. Thanks:bang
 
Truck suddenly dies and wont start back. The lift pump wont kick in to start the truck. I had it at a diesel shop not to long ago having a south bend put in and he serviced it for me while it was there and he said he liked to have never got it to start back. When he changed the fuel filter, the lift pump wouldnt kick back. He plugged it up and the ecm isnt sending a signal to the lift pump to do what its supposed to do. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt
 
where are you located? I have good used ECM's

first thing to do with a VP44 truck with odd issues is check and clean all of the grounds!!!
