Dodge has a few new updates for ecm.I dont know how new this info is. Maybe everyboby knows? Call your dealer. And dont forget to remove smarty first. My dealer loves my truck and doesent care about it being a hotrod.:evil

I'll text the diesel mech next door at dodge and ask him if he has heard about them. He reflashed mine about 2 months ago. I'll try to find out.

P.S. CRAP. I forgot my cell phone today. :bang

Mine took 181401 ,181901 ,900101.I guess there is a hard starting program, it has something to do with #1 winter blend. And Oil pressure gauge flux. And 1200 rpm cold start up.Like the smarty has.It was funny when he was finished the phone rang.So he went to answer it. I started it and it had a code.So i hooked up my smarty up and looked it up.At this time, he comes back.I told him what it was and i said to him should i clear it ?He says yes. Then he took a look at the smarty and says "wow nice"

Talked to the local Dodge dealer a few days ago and he told me that, some trucks that have tunners or boxes or whatever on them it will exept the new ecm flash. But, the tunners or boxes may not have as much of an impact as before the reflash.
He did tell me that they can and will reflash it for a 100$.
Does anybody know whether or not the reflash or updates affect the potential or output of the tunners?
My truck has idled at 875-900 rpm bone stock and is still the same. However it does drop down to 825 or so every now and then and does run better when it's idles that low. Thats the only reason i thought about reflashing the ecm.

If you have a Smarty, getting a reflash from the dealer won't do anything for. As soon as you upload your Smarty again, it will replace the latest flash the dealer put in.

Are any of these flashes recent items? They sound like some that have been out for a while and I'm pretty sure that Bob/Marco updated the latest software to be based on the latest flashes available. I believe the hard starting flash cut down the lift pump run time when the key was turned on. The oil pressure gauge fluctuation was just the dumbing down of the gauge to show the same reading based on engine speed/temp as long as you had some oil pressure. If your pressure dropped below a preset point, then the gauge would fall. And the high idle was usually an option that had to be turned on.

Now if you don't have a Smarty, then they may have some benefit for you. Or you can find a buddy with a Smarty and have him upload it and take it back off leaving you with the updated stock software.

I have a comp box and don't know anybody with a smarty.
The guy told me that he had the latest and greatest update avalible. But, he did tell me that if i could get a update code or # he could also put those in for the same price[do it all for 100$]. Correct me if i'm wrong but once the update is in it can't be taken off.

if you want your ecm updated go to cummins not dodge. the update for the oil pressure gauge fluctuation essentially makes it a switch and no longer a sensor, so it always shows a set pressure.

I went to cummins and asked about ecm/pcm.They told me cummins has nothing to do with it.They contract the engine only.Dodge makes them run.Thats what they said to me.

then you dont have a very good cummins dealer unfortunately. Cummins has everything to do with it since they produced it. your not asking for them to warranty it your asking them to program it with insite the same way they would any other isb. it goes by ecm part number, you select the ecm number that is specific to the dodge pickup then click on send calibration. not a big deal. and much better than the chrysler updates. I would see the service manager and tell them that

I don't totally agree with your statement. I have been told by Cummins techs that they cannot program the ISB found in Dodge trucks as they do not share the same ECM as the industrial ISB. You have to have Dodge software/programming capability to calibrate the ISB in the Dodge trucks.

I've been told this as well. Cummins supplies the long block and turbo, dodge is responsible for hooking it up and getting it to run.

From my knowledge you can buy the ECM from cummins...but I don't know if they can program it or not. I guess someone should ask Snedge. As far as the re-flash affecting the oil pressure gauge? I smell B.S. The 2001s has a pressure transducer on the block that sends a reading to the ECM and the ECM turns codes it into CAN data for the cluster and our tuners to read. The 2002 has a pressure switch on the block. There is no linear output, just on or off. That is why the 2002 Edge displays will not read oil pressure. I highly doubt that a ECM flash would change the way your truck reads oil pressure. Now on the flip side of that, I have been wrong before, and LOVE to eat crow, but it seems wrong to me. If it is true, the hardware guys at Dodge need to go kick the software guys in the giblets. LOL

Jory I could see where they might make the gauge less responsive to help cut down on idiot complaints about the gauge moving to much.

it has nothing to do with being industrial, although they do have the same ecm regardless. the ecm gets programmed through the 3 pin connector that hangs by the ecm on our trucks, and every other isb for that matter (1998-2003). being that you do have to program by ecm part number, when you do it will be chrysler specific programming. but again, comes in all of the insite updates through cummins.
I was the road service supervisor for cummins metropower before they became Cummins power systems. I was also the Cummins manager for a very large drivetrain dealer in the north east.
As a matter of fact Cummins used to sponsor the diesel drags and we used to uprate trucks before newer managed updated came out. (may still be possible on pre 2000 trucks)
So please believe me, it can and has been done, by myself even. so if anyone tells you otherwise they are wrong.
oh and Cummins supplied an entire engine package the same way they would to any other manufacturer, minus the warranty. Typically Cummins is responsible for the warranty but Dodge chose to Warrant it them selves, so no warranty was purchased from Cummins. This is the only difference, well and propriatary ecm plugs so you cant tamper with computers.

The Dodge ISB and Industrial/Medium Duty ISB's don't share the same ECM. Just do a count on the connectors on them. Dodge has one and the others have two. They don't share the same code/program either. In other words you can't load a 300hp calibration into a Dodge ECM.
