Edge defueling?

Here is the video from my first hook last night at the GDS fair pulling in the 8k Outlaw class.

Is it just me or is the truck defueling off and on the whole way down the track? I just put in 240hp injectors and I left the line at 650 on the pyro, as soon as I let the clutch out it shot up to 1200 and then I was sitting around 1450 the whole way down the track. I had the max egt set point at 1500 on the edge. Am going to have to run without the pyro so it doesn't defuel?

Looks like steady fueling to me, but you could either use more RPM or a higher gear.

The reason the RPM were going up and down some at the beginning was because the truck was bouncing some. RPM and fueling sounded smooth and steady once you got stopped bouncing.

Thanks Eric, I pulled 3rd low and pulled 3400rpm the whole way down the track. It just didn't feel like it was getting the fuel it should with those 240's. I thought I'd hit 1800 degree's with a 64/71/14.

I'm gonna try disconnecting the pyro probe for the next pull and see what happens.
 
that turbo sure is cleaning those injectors up well. Im running a similar injector with a silver bullet and you can tell going down the track that ive got a good sized injector your truck does not look that way. I would check and make sure your wire on the IP has a good tap.
 
Why would you unhook the probe? Just set the defuel options to off. The edge will defuel automatically because you have nothing telling it to fuel once the ECM shuts off the signal to the fueling solenoid @ 3200 RPM. You're basically just free revving on stock software. For that matter, you could unhook the pump wire and just run it as an EZ and have the same effect. 3rd low is too low of a gear unless you run a set of 35"+ tires. Even then, you're not running enough RPM. You're just gonna tach out the whole way. Sucks but thats the fight you'll have until you change your setup. 3.54's suck for pulling with a 5-speed. The ratios are too far apart.
 
whose 240s you running? I plan on running 240s with my 62/71/13ss but i have water inj so hopefully my egts will be around the same as yours, but as far as your question it looks pretty normal to me. Do you have the hot unlock?

You had a nice hook there man, and you didnt bounce around like some of those trucks did, but I agree with ya, you should have more fuel than that.
 
Thanks for the advise guys. The reason I am thinking it is a defueling issue is because on the street it will smoke like a frieght train even at 45psi in 5th gear. The turbo doesn't come close to cleaning those injectors up. But on the street my egt's stay about 1300 at WOT.

I'm not sure how to turn off the defueling options, I spend about 15 minutes before my class started going through every option on the attitude trying to find it with no success. And as far as the hot unlock...don't have it because we think there is a Jim Jessup tune on the ECM because it pulls hard past 3400 rpm.

So next time should I try pulling 4th low running 33" (crappy) tires to try and get some more wheel speed?

No, 2nd high would be your next closest gear, but its probably going to be too fast of a gear for you. Still not going to work because you don't have the RPM's to get going. Tires, gears, or both will be the biggest help. A Redline will get you the extra RPM's you need but its still going to be a gearing nightmare for you. If you're not going to change setups, then I would look at your truck setup with weight, bars, and so on to make what tire speed you have, hook up the best it can.
 
Thanks Alex, hopefully I can figure out how to get the fuel out of this thing because I know there is plenty. After I fix the tranny again that is.

Well as long as she's ready for Fall Brawl, i wanna see that pig on the dyno!
