Im building a 99 cummins to put in my superduty and my question is what is the best programmer or tuner available for these engines. Ive always ran edge on my powerstrokes but i have never pushed them very hard. The cummins is getting 125 or 150 ddp injectors and possibly a pump and twins down the road. Im just curious what set up i would be best going with as im not familiar with electronic performance on a cummins. Any insight will be much appreciated. Thanks

In my opinion I would run tst and a smarty. But what are your plans with the truck?

Daily driver/ tow pig and some sled pulling but not extreme pulling. Thanks for the the reply

Best bet on here would be to use the search. There are years of discussions on this board. You'll find in that search, the evolution of what is offered from then to now.

if you are stuck between those three....the quad. and i would consider some better injectors than ddp.

I have used all 3. Go with the quad. The programming is more aggressive than the edge, is upgradeable to full competition (4000 RPM) limits, and can monitor everything including fuel pressure. Edge is not what they used to be, and the warranty is poor (compared). Smarty is a great product, but not cheap, and best for common rail stuff and combined with other things. Smarty does not monitor anything either. I have installed quite a few Quad Adrenaline boxes and everyone has been happy with them. Edge products have failed in under 2 years, and the option given now is to buy a "reman" for 75% of a new one. Smartys are good, but seem less user-tunable, and you will have to spend several hundred more for anything to monitor engine parameters.

Not really stuck on any of them just looking for the best option. What would you recommend other than ddp? I was under the impression ddp was a good brand. Thanks for the in put.

Thanks bluthndr for they input also!!

ddp are not known for their vp injectors. there are some of the best injector builders on this site as vendors. request a quote for a particular size. i have cummins performance parts nozzles in my truck. i will be getting a set from weston(smokem) soon. heard good things about ducky fuel injection and contagious also.

Thanks for the info I'll be looking into them when the engine goes in.

I have the quad on my stock truck and it definitely wakes it up on 10 but I've never had anything else

Ive ridden in a couple trucks with quads... Im not saying they knew what they were doing or anything else, with that said, I will not own one. I have and edge and it will stay that way unless I move to a tst and smarty/ts stack.

I second that ddp injector thing. Do yourself a big favor and get a better injector built.

another vote for the smarty tst stack smarty really gives it some low down grunt I'm running CPP 150's and am very happy with them Jamie is great to deal with to I've also run the edge drag comp smart stack and hands down prefer the TST still have the edge in a box somewhere....
