ok' kinda new to this so i have a question. I drive an 02 cummins with a stock turbo. I also have an edge juice with hot unlock, K&N intake and muffler delete. when on levels 5 or 6 my egt"s get up to around 1500. Boost only gets to 21. I saw something on here last nite about a turnbuckle on a stock turbo will help get more boost and lower egt's. Not sure how this works. Can someone chime in and give more info?

You are in need of a larger exhaust housing. Get a non-gated 16 and go to town.

You can wire the wastegate, or use the turnbuckle method. Either one should help you out a good bit.

get it over with and buy a 62/14 and a set f 100-150hp injectors, cause power is addictive.

Wire the wastegate shut and that'll help some but to fully aleviate the issue your gonna need a bigger turbo. The more air you have, the more fuel you burn, the cooler your egt's get. To an extent. Don't let your turbo go much over 35psi.

Mountaineer, unless he's got a stick there aren't any exhaust housing upgrades for the hy35.

ahh yea, I forgot the bright idea to take 235 engine to 245 and put the 9 on there to help it breathe with those extra 10 ponies.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like the best thing to do is get a bigger turbo. Was just kooking for a cheaper way out. Time to spend some dollars cause i want that power

Do you have an automatic or a manual?

If you have a manual, you can close off the wastegate rather easy. In fact, I think I have an adjustable boost elbow floating around somewhere.. If I can find it, you can have it.

You can also look for a cheap 35/40 hybrid for some releif. I've seen them go for as little as $250. They bolt in place of the stock turbo with no other modifications. They are not nearly as good as the newer S300 options, but they are cheap and do help with EGTs.

What are your goals with the truck?

I have an automatic but thanks for offering the boost elbow. I'll search for a 35/40 hybrid and see what i can find. I do want more power but my goal right now is to cool it down a little. This is my daily driver. Thanks for the info.

Anything over 35 psi boost with your hy-35 is going to make things hotter. With the adrenaline i was running 45-48 psi. i just added an HTT 62/71/13ss. I runs alot cooler and it doesn't choke ff on the top end like it did with the HY.
