electric water pump, daily driver?

There have been alot of issues with the electric pumps. Just mod the thermostat, trim the waterpump and use a bypass if needed.

there are , but i wouldn't. i have had one die. and i know that redstroke had a couple die. i think that they are great for the competetion side but wouldn't want to trust my daily driver with one.

I did for 6 months, it eventually filled with coolant and died. Scott stood behind it and sent me a new replacement with an updated seal. However, it's still in the box.

Thanks for the info. I've heard about trimming the pump. Can someone explain it to me? I'm going to try T fitting at the temp sensor for a bypass. The one for the back of the block is a no go. The trans adapter plate covers half the freeze plug.

Just grind the fins off of the pump. Take maybe 33% off of it.

What is the thermostat mod?

What's wrong with just taking the thermostat out completly? It shouldn't be able to create so much pressure if the restriction is taken out.

How do you plan on getting to operating temo with no t-stat? I dunno about you but my old girl takes her time getting warm in the winter and I don't let boost build till I'm at temp so....

sorry didnt mean to highjack there is picks of what I have on intelligent engineering sponsor section in there bypass threads.

I don't drive mine when its super cold out. But when its driven I drive it cold till it builds some heat. With the turbos I have it takes some Rpm's to build boost so I keep them low and keep off the boost till the coolant temps start to rise.

You should have stacked washers between the adapter plate & freezeplug. Stay away from the electric pump. Dan Holinaetor blew a electric pump at West Overton while he was in line getting ready to pull.

I ran one, killed it before the first oil change, no replacement or communication from the seller. Put a stock water pump back in, and no problems, but I do have a bypass on the back of the block, and don't run it hard until the t-stat cycles!

Be warned there is more than one person/company making those electric pumps. Looks to me like the quality is direct referenced to the price. Remember sometimes you get what you pay for.

Who's electric water pump are you seeing fail?? Not trying to start anything.. but have one sitting on a new engine..
Thanks,
Bryan

What about the factory fan? Better to switch to electric fans to deal with high RPM?

When trimming the water pump, are there no issue with low RPM water flow (idle)?
