has anyone not been able to get their front end apartto put their elocker in? mine is an 05 dodge 2500 if there is any tricks could you please let me know

What cant you get apart?

Iv heard of a few guys that can not get the wheel bearings off.

Lots of pb blaster! And there is a way to use the power steering to press the axle hubs out. I did that when doing my ball joints. Can't remember exactly, but you thread a couple bolts in backwards and it presses against the axle housing to press the hub out... I'd have to look at it again to remember exactly how. But if I remember right I read about it on here...

Tool? There is no tool that I'm aware of. just screw the bolts in the other side and they hit the housing, I braced it with steel to avoid screwing anything up.

You are talking about having troubles getting the hubs out right? Soak, soak, and re-soak with pb blaster... Mine came appart hard but finally came out. The ball joints where a pain! 1 broken ball joint press and 2 cans of pb blaster later, they finally all popped...

I used a block of steel between the housing and the axle right on the u-joint ear it's around 2" wide I think or as straight as you can get with the wheels. try alittle then rotate to the other side of the u-joint. Sometimes you really have to pull on the steering wheel with all your weight. Good luck.

use a air hammer. Also put a socket behind the hub, start the truck, turn the wheel and use the power steering as a press.

i have used a socket and extension to get some apart work from front to back top to bottom

Why are you removing the ball joints to install a locker?

My bearings came out pretty hard too but not too bad, I have had to replace others that we torched out, beat, etc. Sometimes what I do is run a chisel in between the bearing and the break disc cover, and hammer the heck out of it and then it comes out pretty good but ruins the dust cover. But i order a new cover and were good to go.

I wasn't.... but removing the hubs is removing the hubs... be it to replace ball joints... like I was... or to put in a locker like the OP is....

Ha hey matt I agree but Jerrod said we could get it apart because that was my next option but jerrod is pretty confident that we can do it. We just finished the new weight rack looks a lot different.

Snap on makes an extension that is used with the power steering to press them out but those things weren't moving. I'm going to make an attachment for the air hammer or something to accomodate a BFH :)

sweet lol we need no more injuries! I was wanting to make sure this wasnt just my luck this was a complete pain in the butt
