End Play On a Turbo?

What is the maximum allowed end play? I have a Scheid Lightning 20000, which I beleive is a gt42 center section. I have .009". It seems a little much to me. Called Scheid and they say .013" is Max. That seems like alot.

What do you guys think.

Did they ask you what the play was in your turbo before providing you the spec? just curious

The play is in and out. I asked them before I told them my measurement

Seems like alot of movement for in and out.

I don't remember in and out play being that tolerant. I was thinking .002-.004 max. Is it ball-bearing?

2x on th is it ball bearing. Ball bearing Garretts are always loose. That sounds like to much for a Plain bearing. I just checked my GT4202 Saturday. .002

its a journal bearing.

We always just pull out on the shaft. If it moves any, it gets rebuilt.
