engine rebuild kits?

i'm looking at p pumping my truck but while i'm going down that far i think i might want to rebuild it. i'm don't looking for a monster build or any thing just 500-600hp after its all together. what i want to know is if can i buy an off the shelf rebuild kit for 1000 or cheaper. i have 5000 to do the rebuild and p pump. any help or links will help me a lot still new to the Cummins engine.

well the lift pump went in the truck so a every thing is going to get put on hold and im getting a 1 month vacation from work so i wont be able to do it at the time. what would i have in a good over haul kits?
