lately ive noticed my engine temps arent getting up to operating temps. some times not even to 165. i made a trip to dayton from hamilton this morning (40 miles) and the temp guage was barely reading 165..normally it would be around 190..whats the deal??

Prob just your T stat acting up my 99 did the same thing would only get to about 170* everyday.

The previous owner of my truck told me he bored out the T-stat. He said the truck would never get over 160* and it's true. Isn't having the engine below operating temp a good way to blow a HG on a WOT run..?

Their made to run at a certain temp for a reason.

Yes, the fact that it runs a little cool isn't bad. I think it is the drastic change from cold water in the coolant system gets heated up rapidly, and then when the thermostat opens you get a rush of cool water where 190+ water was at.
