Enterprise engine CR cam using smaller tappets???

I bought a custom grind cam from enterprise engine for my 05 CR, with the cam came new tappets. But they were a much smaller diameter then the stock ones I pulled out. Called them and they said that those are the proper ones to run with the new cam. Has anyone else ever experience this?

they are probably 24V tappets, they are noticeably smaller, but the seat of the push rod is still the same height.
