Error 14 Smarty program abort

I've had my smarty for 3 years now without any problems... til now.
When I go to change a program, say #8 catcher, it programs then says updating ECM please wait... ERROR 14 Program aborted.
Codes normal except this one (no BUS message received from ECM)
What is a BUS message and how can I fix it?? I want my Smarty back... It sets itself to stock every time I plug it in to change it...
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a communication problem. I've seen it happen a few times on 99 trucks. have you tried to update it? Only other option is to get in contact with Bob and see if he could send you a new file.

The newest file would be on the MADS s03 download page. You have a wiring/grounding issue somewhere on your truck. Error 14 is a communication time out. Try cleaning the obd2 port or use some dialectric grease.

try disconnecting the batteries,let it sit for a while and reconnect them, we had a 99 do the same exact thing and doing this fixed it
