I'm looking at an '03 3500 it's all stock except it has an exhaust brake. I read somewhere that you have to put 60lb valve springs in to keep your valves from floating open when using it. my question is, would you be able to tell if the valves said hello to the pistons without tearing the head off or would you be able to notice something wrong listening to it run?

The older 12 valve trucks needed the 60 lb springs,I think the 24 valve have adaquate valves. I run a 4" remote mount on my 05 and haven't changed the springs yet. I have a set of Bully dog 100# that I will install with a cam somedy.

Yes, only the 12 valve engines came with the different springs, all the 24 valve engines from what I have heard are ready to go for any exhaust brake.
