need to get new bolts for my new 3 piece manifold. i know what size and thread i need, but need to know which is the best; allen head bolts or stainless hex head bolts. let me know what you guys have used.

i did something different, i had acces to different length studs at work, and i found a stud that would stick out just enough with the manifold in place, and used a turbo nut(M10X1.50 thread pitch is what the bolts/studs are), and it worked better than i thought, i was able to put all the gaskets in place, and just line the manifold up, and slide onto the studs, the nuts in the middle you can tighten/loosen with a wrench, im sure alot of people know what a PIA the allen head bolts are to get out in the middle if ever needed once they are all rusted up, the heads want to strip out, and in the middle you can only use a ball end hex socket to get the darn bolt out. ill try and get a pic and post it up for you of the stud/nut combo.

Thats a good idea. Especially when you are putting on the manifold with the turbo hangin off of it! And especially when you are doing it by yourself!

Wes, sounds good to me. where can i get the studs and how long do they have to be? be lookin for that pic. thanks

:hehe: I was just out measuring the sizes of both last night just for this reason :bang I guess it works!

I was thinking about doing this also. Instead of buying seperate studs for $2.50 a piece, you can get a 3' piece of threaded rod for $20.00 from Fastenal, and cut it yourself on a bandsaw.
Product Details | M10-1.5 x 1 Meter Threaded Rod DIN 975 Class 8.8 Plain | Fastenal

Stainless would be nice also.
Product Details | M10-1.5mm x 1M DIN 975 A4 Stainless Steel Threaded Rod | Fastenal

50 nuts is under $10.00

will that threaded rod be strong enough? i have twins, but there is no brace on the bottom charger, so i need whatever i use to be pretty strong.

Turbos hanging off the manifold might weigh 100 lbs. 10mm bolt ulitmate strength is around 10k lbs. I think it should be alright.
