let me know what u guys think. everything clears, no clearance issues anywhere. now, the welds aint the prettiest, but it gets the job done. and the primary has a different drain setup now. kit came off of a early p pump truck

im not 100% sure i agree with dumping drive pressure into drive pressure.....

Some setups may not get the big charger lit if its vented to atmosphere though.

well it's not a big bottom charger, I don't see the point in flowing the excessive drive pressure to the exact same spot it was going to go anyway? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong

If the secondary is the restriction causing excess drive pressure, the gate will allow it to pass to the primary. If the primary is a restriction, a second gate would be necessary to allow it to pass to the downpipe.

Exact same spot..... but without having to force itself through the tiny turbine housing/wheel of the second stage charger...

With your line of reasoning, what's the point of a wastegate on any engine.... I mean, all it's doing is dumping exhaust gas right to the place it was going anyway.... the atmosphere.

Except for the fact that it doesn't have to do it through a turbine housing and impart energy into a turbine wheel that you don't want receiving any more energy.

looks good. a second external gate would be perfect right before the primary too.

yep I was looking at it wrong :hehe: small phone pictures and 3am don't mix, makes since if your seeing a big restriction there to re route it into the bigger housing and turbine wheel, nice work!

Looks like with your line of people skills you would be better off helping Don Tanklage come up with better sayings between him and his race pals :hehe: :hehe: j/k kidding chuck

That looks good, its exactly how I did mine on my 4 cylinder compound setup. I am using a 3.9L engine with and he341 and hx52, spooling the he341 as a single is no problem so I new I could bypass some flow with it and still be fine, spooling the hx52 was gonna be a problems so I just use enough exhaust to spool the he341 and the rest goes to help spool the hx52.

That setup works great on my engine and I bet you will like it on yours.

x2.. that looks like a H1C with a 16-18cm housing.... that's what i don't understand here.....

A question that should have been asked; What are the turbine housing sizes on both chargers?

Good point, this would probably only be a good setup if you are running a small secondary and a large primary that needs the extra exhaust flow to spool.

I don't like the merge angle, nor the that it merges that close to the outlet of the manifold charger turbine.

I do like the idea.

It works just fine!! Same way I plumbed my gates and I have fantastic control over boost and drive presures.

Yes, but you are regulating both drives

If you didn't plumb the secondary wastegate back into the hot pipe, you would loose tremendous amounts of drive pressure on the primary and would have to run a relatively small housing on the primary to spool it. That in turn would create even more drive pressure on the secondary. Vicious cycle ;)

Dockboy, why Your manifold turbo is bigger than primary turbo ?

Normally they are opposite ?

Optical illusion ;)

I actually have a different secondary on there now, custom S300 w/.78 housing. But those pictures are of an HX40/19 over an S480/1.32

You're right Greg LOL.. I guess it was just because I've never seen an external gate setup on twins... An internally gated housing would be doing the same thing..

Sorry for my earlier comment.. nice work.. Interesting top turbo choice...

Here is my first from either late 02' or early 03' I started out venting it to atmosphere then changed it over to the divorced setup and dropped 250 degrees of EGT.....think it works better.
