Anyone else have a problem with this? On my 2008 Company truck a few weeks ago when it got warm the fan kicked in and it has never get back out. When I go to take off from a stop sign it sounds like an airplane is taking off. Very Very annoying. I'm assuming you have to pull the front of the truck apart to fix this?

Unplug the fan and see if that changes anything. Most likely the clutch is stuck.

Guess theres a sensor on the fan or plug that tells it to engage and disengage? Yeah thats what our mechanics kinda figured as well, but they hate working on these things.

computer controls and sends a pulse width modulated ground signal to the fan to couple it up. If you ground the wire completely it locks up in about 60 seconds time. I have a switch on my Excursion to engage it when necessary. The fan speed is also monitored by the computer so if you disconnect it completely it will throw a code as well. Not sure if this helps any?

Thanks Got-Torque! Looked at what you posted and got under the hood to check the wires and sure enough that sensor was halfway unplugged and covered in dust and crap since its my company truck, This thing has been driving me nuts for weeks. I unplugged it and cleaned it out a little bit a sure enough it kicked the fan out as soon as I started it back up. Just wanted to thank you for the help.
