I've been messing around on the Gear selection calulator and just wondering what are some good final drives/MPH guys with around this many hp are running. The truck is a P-pumped 24v about 700hp for now, Auto, 33's, 4.10's, running 2nd gear, Around 3800-3900 down the track. If you guys have any suggestions about this setup, they would be greatly appreciated.

at 800 hp, I tried several different speeds/gear combos. 20,28,31,and 39mph. I ran 20 on accident and re-pulled with the 39mph gear. Both pulls were within 3 feet of each other -- same sled, same day. I used the 39mph gear on loose tracks, and 31 on the tighter tracks.

Bump. I'm thinking 4.88's are the best option so we can run 3rd gear. What do ya'll think?

4.88's would put you at 29.6mph at 4000rpms in 3rd.

the gear you run right now puts you at 24.3mph at 4000rpms.

Yeah I already calulated it. But is 6 mph worth it is my question. And what gears are other poepl in this hp range running?

Anything you can do to get more mph is always a good thing. I have seen lots of guys in the hp range run 3.55's and a bunch that run 4.88's so maybe we'll get one of the guys that actually did the switch to comment. What about keepin the stock gears and goin to 35's?

We have 35's but that would only net about 1 to 2 mph.
