Fire Ring or Layered Laminated Gasket

Ok guys I just purchased my dream race truck and now I have the head off. I took it to a machine shop to get my head fire ringed and one of the guys said I should just get one of there new layered laminated gaskets, he said it will hold about 80psi. I said lets just fire ring it. But has anyone tried these?

The Cometic gasket? Don't go near it. Fire ring/stud it and forget about it.

Seeing that you're from Utah, where did you take it for the machine work? I've tried talking to Cleggs and they beat around the bush and send me elsewhere for my machine work.
