I tore into my shortblock this weekend for my puller project. It is an 89 or 90 12v. The rods are from Japan and have the large counterweight on the cap. I have searched through the many connecting rod threads, but I have not found anything specific to these.

Does anyone have any info to specific to these rods?

I'm not 100% sure ,but i think cummins parts made in japan are marine parts. good luck with the build.

I have seen USA made rods in marine engines.

Japan rods are OK, they are almost identical (visually) to US rods, England rods are sightly different.

I have disassembled few industial engines with Japan and US rods, England rods are from my 98 12V

They are better than CR rods and we all knew CR rod limit is approx 800-900 hp

Yeah I know..probably should have been more specific in my wording. Trying to get a feel if they are worth using in a high hp application or if I should look for a set of USA (or other) 12v or 24v rods (non-CR).

ha and you guys talk about duramax's being jap motors.

i've yet to pull apart my 91 motor to see what's inside.
