Hey guys me and my buddy want to pull our trucks at the local fair this up coming year. Any sugestions for us first timers? Do we have to do anything special to our trucks for the sled hook up or adding weight? How much help would ladder bars/traction bars do? We both have slightly modified trucks, if that helps any. Thanks!

traction bars help the drive line from breaking and you'll need to make a hitch for the hook in the sled which is a little bigger then what fits into a pentel hitch

sweet cool! ill have to get on that soon, we are planning on pulling at the buck in lancaster,pa. any special techneques you could pass on. i have an auto, what gear should i put it in? drive or down in 1 or 2?

when i pulled at the buck i did it in 4x4 low in drive but i had a complete built trans. your TC is not going to like you if you haven't upgrade the TC and VB

ya thats a negative. ill prob have the vb and a shift kit done by the time i do pull at the buck but not tc.

An extra pair of shorts would be a good idea, that way, when it goes BANG you have something to change into for the ride home.

Traction bars are pry the most Important. If you do happen to get some tranny work done a TC lock out switch will also help alot. I would pull in low range 2nd gear

most important i beleve is to do your homework on setting up the tires as far as air pressure. Talk to some of the more veteran pullers there at the buck so you can get that dialed in

hitch height is important find out what the rules say in your area, its easier to carry it than drag it.

If the rules allow, fab up some sort of suspension stops for the rear aswell. Some places allow full blocked suspensions, and others say you need atleast 1" rear suspension travel.

You may also want to build a set of traction bars for the front aswell to keep the frontend from bouncing. Although I have seen other techniques used such as just using a tow strap from the leafsprings to the frame right behind the front axle tube.

Also make sure you build both front and rear traction bars heavy. Use either 2x2x 1/4" square tubing or 2" x 1/4 DOM round tubing. Don't try any S-40 pipe. It will bend.

ya the taction bars that ill be making are out of the top link out of the 3 pt hitch and just spliting it and lengthing it with thick wall pipe (welding it together of course)

traction bars are a must, and make surethey are welded to axle tube not just clamped.and go with a all terrain tire the buck has a pretty tight track ,a mud tire will resault in insant death to a 10.5 ford rear.good luck, them duramaxs are mean in the street class:hehe:stupid oem turbo rule.see yea at the buck:rockwoot:

ya cool thats all i ever run is just an all terrain tire. im hoping i do ok nothin special you know

not sure what the rules are ase at the buck but some places require driveshaft loops and u-joint shields. lower your front tire pressure somewhere around 20-25psi and max out the pressure in the rears. If your allowed to hang weight, hang as much as possible if not add some in the cab,bed or wherever to meet the weight maximum. like the others said hitch, bumpstops and traction bars.

im only running the stock class so im not aloud to hang weight but im aloud to add weight in the bed. I think max weight for the stock class is like 8100 lbs. why so low air psi in the front tires?

Maybe will talk you into hookin a few times this year Prouhet! Warren county is going to have a 2.4 class, be your best chance!
