Flame in exhaust

What could cause a flame to come out of the exhaust? Ive got about a 4" flame come out at full throttle.

To much unburnt fuel leaving the combustion chamber. Ive seen a couple truck that have had flames comming out but they were usually sled pullers and one on the drag strip. I had a video or 2 of one but i couldnt find it.

timing is at 16.5 but its going to 20-21 soon. I was thinking I could be starving the pump. My fass hooks back ino the factory filter somewhere before the cab. Could the pump be pulling more than whats being supplied to it. I just switched from twins to a 2.6 and it didnt do it with the twins.

Heres the video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySyV3x5kb9w

I don't think it is that bad, you have to remember that it is pitch black on the video. I used to run a mower and it had a exhaust pipe, and at dusk, under a heavy load it would push a flame out of the exhaust. THis was on a 12hp kohler that was stock.

I just want to make sure its not something bad. Someone told me it could mess up the valves in my pump.

On my Oliver pulling tractor when I am just running it around it will leave a glaze of unburnt fuel in the stack and then when she is hooked to the sled it will blow a 1' flame out of the stack just burning all that fuel out. Not going to hurt anything.

Thanks for all the help guys.... another question though. Do you guys with fass pumps run lines all the way to your pumps or do you tie back into the factory lines. Could you gain anything by sticking a y in the line and dual feeding the pump?

Even some of these Afghan water pumps shot flames out of them at night. Looks simialar to a jet lighter.

my buddies truck does that when hes not running water also i had another friend that his cr truck had fire out of the exhaust found out he had a bad valve in the cr truck

Mine had 6-10" flame out the hood stack at WOT. Just tore it apart and everything looks fine.

You have a FASS system right? not just a HPFP? I run my lines directly to the IP and remove all of the factory components. No reason to make the LP work harder than necessary to push through the stock setup.

You could Y off and feed a line to the front of the IP but there is a reason the stock feeds and returns are where they are.

Thought I might let you guys know I stopped the flame by running the FASS to the IP and skipped the factory system alltogether. Egts still climb fast but I lost boost pressure, went from to 46-48 down to around 40. Any ideas on why it changed?

Well I'm trying not to be too much of a simpleton, but no flame = less fuel and your boost numbers prove the point. So somewhere you are choking something off, it would seem.

??? Dunno.
