Has any of u ran one on the 2nd gen's?

Im taking the truck to a grage to see if they can get a coolant leak taking care of and the front end is going to be took off to try and repair it! (It would be easyer to get 2)

I am thinking about putting a electric fan on (while we r at it) at the same time but havent heard of anyone talk about them much, i know they arent hp=coins worthy. But a gain of close to 30 hp isnt that bad, i can remember paying a lot more for (gas) power when i was building my camaro years ago!

And every little helps when ur trying to tune a VP!

If anyone has ran them how do they do towing or how heavy can u tow before overheating?

Don't get a flexalite fan if you tow regularly.

Best mod I did for towing was putting a stock fan back on my old 12v.

Not looking to have a brake box...

I dont have a brake box in the truck and probley not going to put one in this truck either (wiring is getting old) on this truck!

I know hooking a box up isnt that big of a deal but just saying.

My old set up, i had a 2.6 charger and i towed some with it (needed to be running 90+mph) to keep the egt down with 35 in tires! If u dopped (below 90mph) going up a hill u would top the hill at 45mph!lol Couldnt drop a gear because of the gov spring's that it had installed in the pump unless the govner was pull in. (basicly had to keep it townailed if u wasnt in high gear)

It blew towing anything heavy, just a load of cattle sucked! Or just a heavy traler!

So i dont really tow much anymore with this truck, if its heavy I can get a different truck.

But i would like to tow with the truck but if the fans r"nt up for towing i guess i wont be taking the truck to Ted Everats next weekends if i have the truck ready by then!

Got to get the coolant fixed i think it's hard on my new engine (not building and press).

We was debating on a Vp truck and a 6.0 truck which one would be the most reliable, I dont think ill go now!lol LONG WAYS FROM HOME AND ITS COLD

With the charger im running know i think it would tow great but o"well.. ...

So no its doesnt hook to a trailer much!

I really doubt you'd see a 30hp gain on a diesel. Maybe on a gasser but I can't image the fan really uses much power on a diesel. I put on on my old gas Bronco back in the day and by seat of the pants it was a waste of money.

What makes u say a diesel has less resistanes turning a fan compared to a gas, it would take the same force for either wouldnt it?

Diesel has so much more torque, I would think the fan might pull down a gas but not so much a diesel. Not that there is less resistance. I could be completely wrong just my thoughts.

IIRC, a stock dodge Cummins fan pulls close to 12000 CFM's. Flex lite is 5500. They will free up some HP but not enough to notice

Didnt know the factory fan had that many cfm's, I havent had my clutch to kick in but once on my truck but they sound like they r hauling the mail for sure! My cousins truck use to kick in all the time on a hard pull!.

Ill more than likely order one tomorrow and I hope it will free up a few hp, probley not going to fill it like limited said but i would like to try one.

I have seen these claims of cfm on mechanical fans, the things people fail to mention is at what RPM, what % clutch lock-up??? No one knows. When you are cruising down the highway, there is nothing more beneficial than the wind from your traveling speed. The mechanical also starts to unlock above 2000RPM. You will be fine towning with electric fans. We have them on our vp dodge, makes around 400HP, GVW was 27K(40ft trailer stacked with hay). No problem towing and keeping cool. Also, A/C performance is better with the electrical. I'm not saying you will gain HP, all I'm saying is they are just as efficient or more than the mechanical. Mechanical is probably more reliable and simple. I'm sure there is less failure % with mechanical clutch than electric motors.

As I recall factory 2nd Gen fan is in the 8500 CFM range when fully engaged, but at what RPM I don't know.
