I was looking around my Girl friends uncles place yesterday. My original reason for the scavenger hunt was for some 3/4 and 1 ton driveline parts for a few friends that are building a few trail rigs and mud buggies. As I walked through the weeds and fields I stumbled apon a 1976 International Scout II. The body is in fair shape with just a few rust holes and the interior needs a little TLC on the seats. As I was checking everything out I notices a DIESEL badge right beside the IH badge. I raised the hood and sure enough sitting between the fender wells was an old Chrysler 6cyl naturally aspirated diesel engine. I first thought it was a Cat engine going by the Cat Yellow paint until I spotted the Chrylser stamping on the valve cover. Not sure if it runs yet and how bad of shape everything else is in, but if he doesn't want much for it and it will not cost much it get it going I plan on buying it.
Does anyone here know much about these old Chrysler diesels? Or even the whole vehicle for that matter? It has a plunger style injection pump aswell, so hopefully it will not be to bad to get some kind of power out of it.
Here are a few pics:
on another note. I also found bunch of other small diesel trucks. most of them chevy luvs and izuzu pups but i did find a couple toyota diesels and also an old nissan maxima wagon with a diesel. here are a few pics
