I was looking around my Girl friends uncles place yesterday. My original reason for the scavenger hunt was for some 3/4 and 1 ton driveline parts for a few friends that are building a few trail rigs and mud buggies. As I walked through the weeds and fields I stumbled apon a 1976 International Scout II. The body is in fair shape with just a few rust holes and the interior needs a little TLC on the seats. As I was checking everything out I notices a DIESEL badge right beside the IH badge. I raised the hood and sure enough sitting between the fender wells was an old Chrysler 6cyl naturally aspirated diesel engine. I first thought it was a Cat engine going by the Cat Yellow paint until I spotted the Chrylser stamping on the valve cover. Not sure if it runs yet and how bad of shape everything else is in, but if he doesn't want much for it and it will not cost much it get it going I plan on buying it.

Does anyone here know much about these old Chrysler diesels? Or even the whole vehicle for that matter? It has a plunger style injection pump aswell, so hopefully it will not be to bad to get some kind of power out of it.

Here are a few pics:

well after alittle research and reviewing some of my engine pics, its not a chrysler diesel engine. its actually a nissan diesel engine. 3.2L i think.

Should be a Nissan SD33 Diesel in the Scout.. Dad had one back in the early '90's was actually pretty cool

i want those luv's, i have a diesel pup and parts are NOWHERE to be found

How bout one of the toyotas? Is your gf's uncle willing to sell any of the stuff? I have a chassis with a gas motor in it and have been trying to find a diesel for it.

Nissan SD33 for the Scout, Dad bought one new in 1980, I got it in 89 as my first vehicle. Good driving vehicle with the strongest Dana 44 made under it. Looks like it is an auto? If so it should be a 727 tranny in it.

some of the stuff he will absolutely not party with at all. He's one of those old people taht won't hardly get rid of anything and knows the value of what he has. The G/F's dad asked him if he would sell it and he said he would but didn't give a price just yet. If I get a chance to actually see him in the next week or 2 and I will see if he will sell anything else and see if I can post up his phone number. He also has 4 or 5 model T fords, Model A's, a 1927 chevy sedan, lots of 47-53 chevy and GMC pickups, a couple Galaxy 500's. None are restored except for one of the model T's. But like I said most of the stuff he probably will not part with.
